Lake Tahoe

Okay so I am about as giddy as fat kid who just found cake... I am going to Lake Tahoe today in the Winter which means lots of snow. Guilty: I have not seen the snow since I was about 9 years old...Sacramento gets cold but always a few degrees away from it actually snowing. SO here I am trying to pack a coupe hours before I leave as always. I borrowed some snow clothes from the family next door that I babysit and I should be off soon! I am blindly going into this with questions such as what do I wear on New Years when its like 18 degrees out... presents quite a problem for the typical new years eve dress I always put on. I leave today and come back the morning of the second so hopefully I should have some photos! Here are some random iphone photos from the week though so I can say I posted something today. Wish me luck out there on the slopes.. NOT

A Beautiful Day in Norcal

We visited my family up in Fortuna, CA in Humboldt County about a six hour drive from here. We do not get to visit all that often, yet I love going up there because it is totally different from my life here. It is a taste of the redneck, country life my cousins lead that I get to dabble in when I visit. The boys take me out and look for deer, do donuts in the car, four wheel, have a beer in a shack; I mean all the country works. They call me the city girl, but this trip was so quick that I did not get to fully indulge in the town. We did make one stop on the Eel River the morning we left and boy the sun was shining and the sky was blue for once! No rain which is unheard of there this time of year considering it was pouring the night before. The views are gorgeous, the terrain in endless so we captured a few moments. My outfit was nothing special as dressing up their is something so alien. So a pair of yoga pants and boots were my compromise.

A Christmas Dress

I was counting down the days till I could do a post on my Christmas Outfit. Every year it is such a struggle to create the perfect Christmas appropriate look. There has to be a balance between whats appropriate, a fashion statement, and yes still muahhhh. So I decided to go for something totally new and quite a bit longer than my typical dress but a MIDI! Yes something that hits the knee which I am always about how high I can hike my skirt. This time I went for a gorgeous deep purple dress and a darker statement lipstick. The curls were new as well (I curled my hair on a wand then pinned them up until they curled and it created magnificent volume). Alright I admit I watched a Victoria's Secret hair tutorial for this... Hopefully this look can be of help for something you may be looking for to wear to a Holiday Party that begs for attention yet does not beg for forgiveness.

Holiday Outings

Well the other day I decided to show my friends exactly what they are missing out on here in Sacramento as a majority of my best friends live in Elk Grove about a 15 minute drive out from my house. Anyway every year starting after Thanksgiving, Old Sacramento Hosts this adorable show of "Twas the Night Before Christmas"; they incorporate the history of the town and its relevance to Mark Twain. It's called Raley's "Theatre of Lights" and if you are a fan of the magical feeling that Disney's Main Street provides mixed with Holiday cheer, well then do I ever have the activity for you! Here are a few pictures from the night where we bundled up and cared less about how we looked and more about us just being best friends... and all single may I add. Have a holly jolly Christmas!

Fur and Flannel

The reason for this specific title is that I have recently begin to feel old. yes at the prime age of 20 I have managed to psych myself into thinking my time here is slowly coming to an end.. not because today is the supposed end of the world but because this is the age you look at as being soooo old when you're a kid. Anyway today's shoot was not my most successful. Nothing seemed to be working. Ever have those days where you tried to look good and ended up failing? I think those are worse than the days where you just do not look your best, but you didn't even try. Well the lightening was not having it and neither was I. But the location was too much fun to miss out on so we tried to make it work. Old Sacramento has amazing buildings and cool alleyways making for great vintage, retro shots and with my fur vest and sock bun I felt this location was perfect! The balance between old and new of the location juxtaposed my outfit created a priceless combo aura. I love the way a sock bun can dress things up and although I do not actually use anything to create the bun it usually comes out alright. The fur was just an impromptu surprise over my favorite flannel.

Mistletoe Days

Well the past few days have been lovely celebrating the holidays. Between the White Christmas showing, Christmas Choir practice, and lots of hot coco we have managed to live in the holiday season.  This video is a compilation of the things my sister and I did the other day. Urban Outfitters had a sale for anyone who could bring in a college ID and I took full advantage of that. We also made an adorable gingerbread house that was pre-built may I add. It was quite the deal; the package provided everything one could need. So here's the video ENJOY
I made it from shots taken on my iphone so it's very small but you get the idea. Wow I did not know the video selected this image to be the cover shot... please ignore the many faces I make haha

Some Fun shots of the day as well:
I made pumpkin bread... it did not even last 24 hours

Winter Outfit

Well it was one of those days where washing my hair and actually dressing up were not the most appealing thing as was wearing loose clothing and eating pumpkin bread. In Sacramento right now it's about 50 degrees which has quite the bite to it if not dressed appropritaely, but I just had to wear my favorite shorts. The shorts are the absolute best from Urban Outfitters as they are perfectly distressed, black, high-waisted shorts, but obviously it is much too cold for shorts so I tweeked the outfit a bit. These tights are exrtemely warm, made from fleece, yet the design adds some flare, and the thick black socks on top added some extra body heat with the combat boots! I deicided to layer my shirts both being of two great, basic tees. The black crop top sweater is a must from Urban (which I got on sale at the time and it has been a staple in my wardrobe ever since) and the long sleeved flowy gray shirt is classic for any outfit. My hair on the other hand... well a rhinestone clip helped to add some glamour to my otherwise glamour-less hair I decided not to wash or style. Enjoy!

This wall was so much fun to photograph on, so many great images. Thanks for the tip Natalie!

My Recent Bedroom Renovation

Well my parent's decided since I am no longer consistently living in my old bedroom that it was time to renovate the teenage room to something more acceptable for a guest bedroom. I had a slight problem with this because I had always envisioned my room staying intact like some sort of Amanda Museum, my own teenage shrine to high school and old memories. I soon realized this was impractical and that my totally Pottery Barn Teen room was seeming younger and more worn out than ever. I always prided myself on having the typical, cliche, high school girl's bedroom with vibrant colors and photos every where from dances and parties, yet since moving to college I realized the room was no longer my high school lair.
SO I told my parents that the new theme had to still pay homage to myself between the colors and decorations. They obliged and we came up with something fabulous still yet much more appealing to guests and the 20 year old self I have now become. We were set on gray walls with pink and white accents. Everything had to be either fluffy or glittery. We wanted this room to bling. Now although the final details are not finished including hanging stuff up on the walls and final little bows and what not.. Here is what we have so far! Mind you I did put twinkle lights around my bed for the holiday season yet it adds something so magical. PS my favorite part of my room has always been the window seat! Yes I had my dad build me on since I have a window nook being on the second floor overlooking the street. I can recall many a times in high school sitting there reminiscing abut my day, boys, and more boys... (who either I was obsessed with or who I wish was obsessed with me...) Anyway it was something you would have seen straight out of a movie.
Alright I could not find any great quality "Before" pictures besides in the background of some selfsies..yes I took selfsies in high school as it was the thing to do for myspace.. Oh my goodness I am OLD!!!!

BEFORE: Everything was hot pink, lime green, and PB Teen...

AFTER: PS it is sort of empty since I am technically moved out so all my accessories are not here with me
